JA PRISM Kick Off in Bilbao
Exciting news – the JA PRISM kick off was held on September 24-25, 2025, in Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao.

The project aims to alleviate the burden of mental ill health with a specific focus on vulnerable groups through:
✅ Promoting good mental health
✅ Effectively preventing mental health problems
✅ Improving access to mental health treatment and services across EU Member States and associated countries
✅ Supporting the transfer and roll-out of best and promising practices to new contexts
Some highlights from the day:
Ane Fullaondo Zabala from Biosistemak, JA PRISM Coordinator, welcomed the consortium and presented the project.
Corinne Salinas from European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) underlined the importance of strengthening mental health across Europe.
Antonio Parenti, Director of DG SANTE highlighted that the European Commission supports the important work of the JA PRISM consortium with 6 mio. EUR, noting the economic and societal importance of investing in mental health.
The three best practices at the heart of JA PRISM! To strengthen prevention-oriented and rights-based approaches to mental health, JA PRISM will roll out and adapt three practices across Europe:
➡️ BIZI: An online gatekeeper training developed to support suicide prevention. The training is designed for non-experts and equips communities with skills to identify and support people at risk.
➡️ Circle of Friends: This practice addresses loneliness among older adults through a facilitator training model and closed support groups.
➡️ Act Belong Commit: The programme promotes mental health by encouraging everyone to: A) Do something B) Do something with someone C) Do something meaningful
By scaling and adapting these practices to new contexts, JA PRISM will help create supportive environments across Europe.
The project’s overall ambition is to alleviate the burden of mental ill health, with a specific focus on vulnerable groups.
The day also brought presentations from multiple related European projects, such as JA MENTOR, JADEHealth, REMESOS, RESILIA and PREVENT, all of which JA PRISM will synagise with to multiply the impact on mental health prevention and improvement in Europe. There was also a testimonial from a person with lived experiences and encouraging words from representatives from the projects advisory board (WHO, OECD, UNICEF, ENUSP and Trimbos Institute).
And finally, the consortium voted on the project logo prepared and presented by the WP2 team.
With partners across EU Member States and associated countries, JA PRISM aims to create long-lasting impact by sharing, adapting and implementing effective models for mental health promotion and prevention.
We are all excited for the next three years of working together, creating sustainable pathways to improved mental health in Europe.
