Synergies

Synergies with other Joint Actions and Action Grants such as JA MENTOR, JADEHealth, PREVENT, RESILIA, REMESOS ensure that resources are used efficiently and that successful approaches are scaled even further across Member States. They help avoid duplication by aligning methodologies, data, and outcomes, creating a stronger and more coherent European health response. By building on each other’s results, these initiatives accelerate impact and foster long-term sustainability in EU health systems.

Creating Synergies to Strengthen Mental Health Across Europe

JA PRISM is closely aligned with European and international strategies that aim to improve public mental health and ensure that no one is left behind – especially people in vulnerable situations.

Across Europe, many collaborative initiatives are working to address growing mental health challenges. JA PRISM builds on this strong foundation. It draws on recent projects and research supported by the European Commission, as well as international organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), alongside national programmes.

JA PRISM follows the direction of the EU’s Healthier Together initiative on noncommunicable diseases, which includes a dedicated focus on mental health. This work supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal target 3.4: reducing premature deaths from noncommunicable diseases by one third by 2030 through prevention and treatment, while promoting mental health and well-being.

The initiative is also aligned with:

JA PRISM builds on the experience of earlier Joint Actions such as JADECARE, ImpleMENTAL, and JACARDI, in which many JA PRISM partners participated. It also connects to ongoing initiatives including PreventNCD, MENTOR, and The ABCs for Mental Health project.

By working closely with ImpleMENTAL, PreventNCD, and MENTOR, JA PRISM ensures that lessons learned from past and current efforts are put into practice. This collaboration helps avoid duplication, strengthens impact, and addresses remaining gaps in mental health support – particularly for vulnerable groups.

In line with the approach of these Joint Actions, JA PRISM actively involves people with lived experience of mental health challenges. Their perspectives are essential to developing solutions that are practical, relevant, and responsive to community needs.

JA PRISM will also explore synergies with other mental health initiatives funded under Horizon Europe, including IMPROVA and GreenME.

In addition, JA PRISM seeks close coordination with key international and European organisations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, UNICEF, Mental Health Europe, GAIMH Europe, EUCOMS, ENUSP, and PROMENS EU. Representatives from these organisations may contribute in advisory roles to strengthen collaboration and shared impact.

Through these partnerships and alignments, JA PRISM works to ensure that efforts across Europe are connected, evidence-based, and focused on improving mental health for those who need support the most.
